As the U.S. approaches its 250th anniversary, a nationwide coalition of John Brown organizations, scholars and advocates has launched “John Brown America250: Renewing the Revolution,” a yearlong campaign to set the historical record straight on a man who gave his life for the founding principle that all people are created equal.
The article goes on to discuss the launch of the John Brown America250 initiative and the events happening about it, bringing together scholars and advocacy organizations to elevate Brown’s legacy and connect his abolitionist vision to ongoing conversations about justice, history, and civic action.
