Beacon of Hope

In 2024, John Brown Lives! presented the statue Beacon of Hope by Wesley Wofford, temporarily showcased at the John Brown Farm.

The statue tells the ongoing story of Harriet Tubman’s life and legacy. This monument amplifies Tubman’s enduring message of equality and chronicles her courageous journey, inviting visitors to find inspiration in her powerful story.

Wofford envisions the statue as a source of strength for children and adults alike, urging them to walk in Tubman’s footsteps and embody her resilience. Through this moving tribute, The Beacon of Hope encourages each of us to become a beacon for others, continuing Tubman’s quest for justice.

The statue will be displayed at the John Brown Farm until October 2024.

The Beacon of Hope is a monument that tells Harriet Tubman’s continuing story; that amplifies her message of equality, so that all may hear it; and that chronicles her journey. It is our hope that generations of children and adults alike will find the inspiration and the courage to walk in her footsteps and draw strength from the powerful story of one of our great American heroes, finding it within themselves to become “The Beacon of Hope” for others.
